In what way? It was a minor inside story - second item on p11. Other newspapers won't pick up on it unless they are going with the theme of UKIP, which most aren't. At most there will be a correction of equal status - inside page, same prominence. The PCC is a toothless watchdog - newspapers cooperate to avoid tougher legislation, but how many papers have been closed, how many journalists sacked, how many big fines have there been?
We forget that we are not as significant as we might wish. Most of the population have yet to hear about us, despite millions of leaflets which were scanned and binned.
Most people don't read broadsheets and most will take yet another 'corrupt' politician with a pinch of salt. How many Sunday Times readers will change their vote from the party that is hitting 1% in the opinion polls (that's with the don't knows, won't votes and refusals to answer taken out)?
40% of the population at the next GE won't vote at all. They're not interested.
Circulation:
Sunday Times - 1,231,374 - 31 Dec 07 - 27 Jan 08
NoW - 3,264,676
Readership is double - ish. More than twice as many people 'know' NF was spanked by his Latvian lovely as know that he has paid his son (allegedly). Less than 10% of the electorate know the most recent allegation, whilst the older one has been more widely talked of in other fora.
Population - est 60,000,000; electorate 44,000,000???
