I like to play a little game with them - figuring out what their answer will be to any particular question. It's an easy game, since I'm convinced that the lefties are given a manual on how to think about pretty much any subject. I don't call them "the hive" for nothing. 
Try it. Pick a leftie. Ask 'em how they feel about abortion, or progressive taxation, or Margaret Thatcher, or 4x4s.
