I fully support prosecuting people for having Cannabis. After all, by pursuing the Broken Windows theory of policing (zero tolerance for 'minor' crime) New York City managed to drastically cut the crime rate.

If the Police selectively enforce certain laws, you're inviting people to break them which can only lead to more crime and disorder.
Yes but not all laws are just, some laws made by self serving governments are of little concern to me. Puff heads pose no threat sitting on the sofa eating a packet of Munchies - drunks coming out of pubs and clubs smashing up cars and phone boxes and beating people up do costing the tax payer a fortune in police time, repairs and the NHS not to mention family breakdown. No one has ever died smoking cannabis whereas hundreds of thousands have died through alcohol related illnesses. I hear the government cannot patent the hemp plant

The police frequently selectively enforce laws whenever it suits them, where do you get this idea they play fair and by the rules? The police are some of the most bent people in society, something they have in common with politicians. Both could start enforcing the law by deporting every illegal immigrant in this country and they could also prosecute all the child molesters in their ranks too. Did you know that half the drugs the police seize from people end up back on the streets to be resold? Yes, the police are drug dealers too!
