I share your optimism, and I'll try to explain why.

We tried our whole "independence" re theming exercise at precisely the wrong time, during an election when the SNP were bound to dominate the airwaves.
Now the elections are over, and the next issue is this treaty (With almost everyone not wanting it, and the evidence being too blatant for the media to ignore), all of a sudden UKIP are more moderate. Many people won't have known the first thing about the EU until this treaty/constitution. So they evaluate the opposition to it, UKIP and the Tories. (The Tories offering a referendum).

But the Tories have jumped on this bandwagon too late, frankly nobody believes them. We were also cited as the only supporters for grammar schools, thanks to the media noting this people know we are not a single issue party.

So now people are looking for opposition to this treaty and they can see UKIP as a moderate opposition party who have really hit the right notes on the last two or three mainstream debates.

The "atmosphere" towards UKIP is now different to it has previously been, we are in a situation where it only takes people to notice us to join us. This is prime leafleting time, if someone agrees with our past two or three "common sense" stances on debates we can just give them a little more info to sway them.

I don't know if the leadership are clever enough to have achieved this situation on purpose (today's coverage is nearly too good to be true), but we should have the canvassers out in full force starting tomorrow evening.
