Despite the inference that I appeared to have "held Wales back", I am justly proud of UKIP Wales jumping from four candidates in the 1997 election to 32 out of 40 in the 2005 election, (including me in Preseli Pembs). Before this there were 25 Assembly candidates in 2003 and laterly, as previously pointed out, nearly 100,000 votes, and fourth place in the 2004 Euro elections). UKIP Wales has some great people in it

Overlooking that some of those stats don't fully concur with my understanding (eg I have marked down 2 candidates in 1997 as opposed to your 4 (I see Newport West & Vale of Clwyd)) I congratulate you & UKIP Wales on the acheivements in 2004 and 2005. I am interested in what happened in 2007. UKIP had fewer constituency candidates in 2007 compared to 2003. After Farage became leader the NEC reversed a decision to only contest the Welsh top-up seats and thus also contest constituency seats where appropriate candidates could be found - too little too late in my opinion.
I wonder if you know & can also say who after the 2003 Assembly elections proposed and/or supported the decision to only contest the top-up assembly seats. I would like to know because that was a devastatingly bad decision in my opinion and if the promoters and/supporters of that decision are still on the NEC I think the members of UKIP should know about it.
