The House of Commons voted in favour of the bill today. It now goes to the House of Lords - only they can now stop it becoming law. I have briefly skimmed the debate and it seems to me that Sylvia Heal (deputy Speaker) helped it on its way. I am no expert on parliamentary procedure but she allowed some petitions to be placed before the house before the main debate but then decided that the rest could only be placed after the debate. She also curtailed the debate by accepting Maclean's call for the question on an amendment to be put despite her not allowing any Labour members to speak on said amendment. She also prevented the house from voting on some of the amendments altogether. Below is the list of those who supported and opposed the bill. There were 21 more voters who supported that the question of the 3rd reading should be now put. I suspect most of them supported the bill but preferred not to have their names in the below list.
