How do the scientists work out that it will be colder in Britain but warmer in Greenland? Beside the point, I suppose.
If Scotland freezes over, where will they go? After obtaining independence from the UK, they won't have any automatic right to move south of the border. They will start winning a few medals in the winter olympics non-event, but their tourist industry will crash and all their cultural nick-nacks will start to look obsolete and backward.
Rising sea levels will mean a massive investment in coastal construction and a network of dykes. Britain will become more like Holland but without the silly language.
If Norfolk keeps sinking, we may have to give up on it one day anyway - who would miss Norwich?
Would the Thames flood barrier become the UK's no.1 terrorist target? Would anyone be upset if London was 20 feet underwater? Would Ken Livingstone finally reduce the congestion charge?
A bleak, cold climate with reduced space for new housing would suddenly make Britain undesirable for immigrants. As the costs rise and the economy struggles, will African countries launch TV appeals to help the poor, destitute Brits? Will we become donation-dependent junkies?
If there is more sea between the UK and the continent, will it be possible to accept that the UK is not - and never has been - in Europe?
