I doubt if many people are attracted to the Greens policies in general - but it does give an indication of how much the GW is a 'hot potato' in political terms.

The public can be, and have been wrong. Democracies such as the UK and the US employ systems of representative democracy for this very reason. The US go one step further with the electoral college.
