Leading academics, politicians and members of the clergy today vociferously supported the latest paper by noted author Charles Dickens regarding the threat of global warming.
Dickens showed the historical evidence clearly in his paper, noting the decline in 'frost fairs' on the thames and its correlation to the famed 'hockey stick' graph showing the rise in the number of horses in london.
"The Thames has not frozen over since 1814" stated Dickens. "Prior to that time the thames froze 10 times in the 1600's, 7 times in the 1700's and only the once in the early part of this century. At the same time the number of horses in our cities has increased enormously"
Politicians agreed. "This could lead to a massive slump in the roast chestnut trade" warned one MP, whilst members of the clergy expressed concern over a possible future lack of snow at Christmas - the Bishop of Bath & Wells stated "Not only does a lack of snow at Christmas ruin the festive spirit, in the long term the cheery wintry christmas card could be a thing of the past".
The queen is expected to announce a range of taxation measure to fight this climate change - a increase in the levy on stagecoach ticket price is expected.
In an associated story, peasants in Derbyshire claiming that global warming was complete hogwash were firstly lampooned by their MP prior to being executed as heretics.
