9 Councillors, not 10
I may have been too generous in stating that UKIP had 10 District/Borough Councillors (compared with the Green Party's current tally of 92 and the BNP's 52).
I included Eileen Braithwaite from Newcastle-under-Lyme (who may be a UKIP member) as a UKIP Councillor.
However, the results when she was elected - as shown on Newcastle-under-Lyme's current website - were as follows:
SILVERDALE AND PARK SITE
Name - Party
ALBINSON, JAMES STEVEN - CON 75
BRAITHWAITE, ElLEEN - CARING PARTY 323
CAIRNS, GEORGE O'KANE * - LAB 311
CORNES, JOHN DENNIS - LIB DEM 83
ELECTED: Braithwaite, Eileen (Caring Party)
Eileen Braithwaite therefore represents the Caring Party on the Council, *not* UKIP.
Therefore UKIP has only 9 District/Borough Councillors, not the '30 to 50' that they claimed to the BBC (see earlier in this thread).
Unless I am corrected - and there has not been a single challenge to date to the facts in my original posting - the 'UKIP Councillor' tally must be revised downwards to 9
