Many brand leaders have made serious errors of jugment by ignoring the flaws within, the most recent being Cadbury's on a matter of hygiene, similarly with Perrier water - who never recovered their market - and famously Smiths Crisps who failed to recognize what the public wanted and their customers and market went elsewhere.

Even BA, as market leader, got it wrong so often, from Freddie Laker to Easyjet and Ryanair - arrogance when market leader often gets repaid. ie the hustings in this context for one and failure to carry the 'Brand' of UKIP into the UK marketplace, i.e. in the 2005 GE and Bromley byelection, are amongst Nigel's failings.
