Sir - Gill Davidson (Letters, August 3) asks when sending mail will be cheaper for businesses after Royal Mail's new pricing structure is introduced.

More than 80 per cent of items will be the same price or cheaper to send under the new system. Heavy compact items such as magazines will generally be cheaper - sending an A4-sized brochure weighing 700g will go down by more than half from £2.69 to £1.31.

Light, bulky items, such as poster tubes, will generally cost more to send, as they incur higher sorting and delivery costs.
