I think people are losing touch with reality over this.

If Lebanon was such a success story why did it not use its army to stop a foreign sponsored terrorist organisation firing rockets at its neighbour Israel and as demanded by the UN. These rockets are fragmentation weapons fired into civilian areas, they were designed by the cuddly Soviet Union not to kill but horrible mutilate infantry. No country, least of all democratic country such as Israel can tolerate such attacks on its citizens.

It is also unfortunate that UN observers were killed yesterday, however there is no evidence to support that they were directly targeted. The UN tolerates Hezbollah setting up Rocket and Sniper positions next to their observation posts and refugee camps. Because of this they will get caught in the Cross Fire.

It is awful what continues in the Middle East, however the Arab nations choose to resolve the formation of the state of Israel in 1948 by war. They lost that war, they lost again in 56, 67, 74 and 82, and it is time for the Arab nations to accept the state of Israel. Yes they have lost territory, but so did Germany in 1945, and like Germany they need to draw a line in their history and take advantage of having a successful prosperous neighbour like Israel to do business with.
