Fundraising
The point here is fundraising. If we cannot afford something then we need to raise the money to be able to afford it.
It's all bloody well and good the party saying that every branch needs to raise £15,000 by 2009, but that is peanuts in comparison to the donations that are given to the other 3 main parties. The figure also does not take in to account anything such as next years council elections, nor the County Council Elections in the same year as the next GE, nor the European Elections (but of course we'll get lots of cash for those in donations from our own MEPs trying to skin-save).
The approach UKIP takes to fundraising is innapropriate. We fundraise like the Tories. But do the Tories fight elections on the funds they raise? No, the funds they raise are mainly for admin and council elections.
UKIP needs to undertake a major fundraising campaign. But it can't be done with one big push then months of inactivity, it can only be done by constant work by the footsoldiers of UKIP, the very army that UKIP is losing.
As for a major billboard campaign: yes. It would serve to keep us in the minds of the people.
