I agree but see my latest post on the Race and Religion thread where I have explained about the causes of offence. Offence isn't just caused by someone else. We have a part to play too.
'You are an idiot Christina!' seems offensive. What if it is a jokey comment in a pub from a friend, in response to something I have said which was deliberately stated as serious, but feigned, for a laugh?
What if it is stated by someone I think of as being an idiot?
It would only carry weight from someone I respect.
I do respect Matt, but I know what he's like from other comments, so I think to myself 'that's just Matt.'
