Reconstruction of Iraq
Just a thought on this. After Gulf War I, when Saddam was left off the hook, the Iraqis rebuilt most of the infrastructure destroyed in the war in a very short space of time. This suggests to me that they had a lot of good tradesmen who knew their way around the job. How is it that this time round so many people are earning lots of dosh (à la Ken Bigley) by doing the work. Don't tell me the Iraqis are too scared to do it - plenty of them seem willing to risk death queing up for a job in the police force. Is all the reconstruction money disappearing in one big scam?
